WeWork Expands its Colorado Footprint to Boulder

Office-sharing giant takes three floors on Canyon Boulevard

Flexible commercial office provider WeWork announced its entry into the Boulder market, furthering its commitment to Colorado by signing a three-story lease at 2755 Canyon Blvd. The latest project – the company's tenth expected location in the state – is poised to open by the third quarter of 2019.

"Boulder is known globally as a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship," says Nathan Lenahan, general manager of the Mountain West and Texas region for WeWork. "From the University of Colorado to startups to major global companies, the mix of talent combined with an amazing lifestyle means Boulder is a place that people want to be."

The Boulder space will house approximately 500 desks.

Since diving into the Denver market in 2016, New-York-headquartered WeWork has opened four locations and counting, with four floors at the Wells Fargo Center – 1700 Lincoln St. – expected to come online as soon as February. And the company shows no signs of slowing, as the Boulder news follows five other locations in the pipeline, including 18,000 square feet in Cherry Creek and space within the Circa Building on Platte Street. In late November, WeWork signed its eighth Denver lease – 40,600 square feet at 821 17th Street, positioning the privately held company as the city's largest tenant.

For the projects that have been thus far announced, all are expected to be open and operating by end of 2020.

Last year, the company also announced that its coding bootcamp, Flatiron School, will open a Denver campus at RiNo at the Hub.

With local companies like FullContact and Fortune 500 firms – which make up 30 percent of WeWork's 400,000 global members – lining up, the company's intention is to continue expanding within the Colorado landscape, according to WeWork representatives.
