Women to Watch: Colorado Tech Shop
This article is part of a special advertising section on Colorado's women in business. Women in Colorado are making an impact in every industry, enterprise and workplace role imaginable. They are CEOs, startup founders, strategists and irreplaceable employees who not only are instrumental in their own organization’s success; through their daily actions and achievements, they set a precedent of possibilities for the next generation of women in business to build upon. Each article profiles the person behind the business and organization that a Colorado woman has helped build or nurture.
Never one to shy away from a little risk and adventure, Katie Hedrick is somewhat unique in the industry as the head of a woman-owned contract manufacturing firm, Colorado Tech Shop. Her business provides design, engineering and contract manufacturing services to the electronics and tech industry including PCB design and assembly, prototyping, full box builds, supply chain management and product fulfillment.
Only in its fourth year, her multi-award-winning company (2017 Cornerstone Start Up Award, 2019 Colorado Companies to Watch, 2019 Governor’s Minority Business Award) proudly run with her husband Iain, has doubled revenue year over year since its inception, tripling her employee count and even spawning a second woman-owned business that provides skilled workers for the manufacturing industry.
Katie strives to create an inclusive, efficient and fun work culture, apparent in her unique and modern office space, and clearly enjoys being at the forefront of the resurgence in American-made products, (traditionally a male-led industry) while fostering community involvement and continued growth of the industry.
