Women to Watch: Mortenson

This article is part of a special advertising section on Colorado's women in business. Women in Colorado are making an impact in every industry, enterprise and workplace role imaginable. They are CEOs, startup founders, strategists and irreplaceable employees who not only are instrumental in their own organization’s success; through their daily actions and achievements, they set a precedent of possibilities for the next generation of women in business to build upon. Each article profiles the person behind the business and organization that a Colorado woman has helped build or nurture.

The construction industry has traditionally been viewed as a male-dominated field; however, the number of women both managing projects and in craftworker roles has been increasing. Which is why at Mortenson, our goal is to build a talent pipeline for women.

Women are now integrated across all facets of our business from project engineers to superintendents and laborers to electricians. At Mortenson, 34% of our workforce is women and nearly 10% of our craftworkers are women.

To continue to build this pipeline of women entering the industry, we work to expose the youth in our community to the opportunities for career pathways in our industry.
