Kristi Wells and Carolyn Witkus are shareholders at Gutterman Griffiths, a family law firm. Both have worked diligently to grow their practice, learning a few lessons along the way.

"Turn challenges to your advantage," says Wells. "If the opposition underestimates you, you may catch them unaware."

To get to their level of practice, handling complex assets and high-conflict parenting issues, mentorship was key.

"In a mentoring relationship there is value in being mentored as well as in mentoring others," says Witkus.

As such, the firm is committed to giving back by training young attorneys and staff in its Pathfinders program.
