ColoradoBiz CEO of the Year 2015 finalist: Todd Usry

He presided over a huge craft-brewing expansion

Director of brewery operations, Breckenridge Brewery

Usry started as a driver for the fledgling craft brewery in 1991 and became director of brewing operations in 1995. Twenty years later, he presided over the biggest craft-brewing expansion metro Denver has ever seen when Breckenridge moved into a new Littleton brewery in June. “It’s been awesome and it’s been overwhelming,” says Usry of the new facility. “It’s really done a lot for the brand.”

So has Usry: Annual production has risen from 1,800 barrels to more than 60,000 in his tenure. There’s room to grow five-fold at the new brew house, so Usry is not resting on his laurels, with 14 new beers and a big push into cans on tap for 2016.

“Be good to your people and your people will be good to you,” he says. “I’ve had a lot of people here for 15 to 20 years with me. That’s just been huge.”
