For the 12th consecutive year, Coors Light is partnering with the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and Coors Distributing Company to offer free rides on New Years Eve. These free rides will be available on all RTD bus and rail routes, as well as Access-a-Ride and SkyRide services, starting at 7 p.m. on Dec. 31 through 7 a.m. on New Year's Day.

The Coors Light Free Rides program started in 1987 and since has provided rides to more than 6.7 million people across 28 communities. In Colorado, since the program started in 2008, over 1.6 million safe rides have been taken. Through the program, free rides will be offered on New Year's Even in Chicago, Dallas, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota and Phoenix.

“Partnerships with local organizations including RTD and Coors Distributing Company enable us to reduce the amount of drunk driving that occurs within our hometown communities," says Diane Wagner, alcohol responsibility manager for Molson Coors Beverage Co.

The program has gained the support of state and local law enforcement, including the Office of Transportation Safety at Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). There is absolutely no reason to drink and drive," says Colonel Matthew Packard, chief of the Colorado State Patrol.  "There are far too many other options to include ridesharing, having a designated driver, or using public transportation with Coors Light Free Rides."

“Thousands of people rely on RTD to reach their destinations safely every day,” says Dave Genova, regional transportation district general manager and CEO. “We appreciate our ongoing partnership with Coors Light for this important New Year’s Eve initiative, which encourages the public to take a free and convenient public transit ride to and from their celebrations.”

In addition, Coors Light is supporting a national holiday program where consumers over the age of 21 can pledge to be responsible and enter for a chance to win rides with Uber for a year. To date, over 280,000 pledges have been received for the four promotional windows they were available for, including the holidays.
