Muralist Armando Silva Honored by the CBCA

The painter and dance festival creator received the 2019 EY Next Wave Leadership award

The Colorado Business Committee for the Arts honored Greeley artist Armando Silva of Artmando Studio with the EY Next Wave Leadership award for his work as an artist, teacher and performer in Greeley who supports the community through performance paintings, engaging murals and an annual hip hop dance festival.

"In its simplest form, the reason I pursue public art or to create art in public or have big pieces that have these messages and are very personal to me is to create a sense of familiarity," Silva says. "It's to create a piece of artwork that we can all look at and understand what its purpose is but also be able to feel like we're invited to get into it and have a deeper reason for it that's personal to each and every one of us but we can all connect in some form."
