Nick Coppolo Combines Big Vision with Long-Term Thinking
The chief product officer at Spire Digital leads a team of 50, named one of GenXYZ 2019 class
NICK COPPOLO, 39
CHIEF PRODUCT OFFICER, SPIRE DIGITAL
Nick Coppolo joined Spire Digital as an information architect with big ideas eight years ago. He now leads a team of nearly 50 and he is credited with driving next-level changes that have more than quadrupled revenue and tripled gross margins and operating profits.
“He empowers developers to make digital products work the way they should and solve the problem they’re supposed to solve,” colleague Ayla Peacock says. “He teaches designers to create elegant solutions that handle problems in a familiar and efficient way. He combines big vision with long-term thinking, evolving a leadership strategy that’s about doing what is right, not what is ‘right now.’ This, he explains, is ‘magic making.’”
As an active speaker and lecturer for the startup community and enterprise IT, Coppolo has shared insights with incubators at Galvanize and Innosphere, Denver Startup Week and the Colorado Technology Association and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Denver.
Coppolo spends weekends preparing food at the Denver Rescue Mission, and he supports his sister-in-law, who has battled metastatic breast cancer, by donating, hosting and volunteering with Susan G. Komen and local cancer research organizations. Coppolo has been key to Spire’s involvement in Pledge 1% Colorado, which promises 1 percent of Spire’s profit to a local charity.
