The 2019 Best Companies to Work for in Colorado
These firms know what it takes to find and retain top talent
Colorado’s record-breaking 2.6% unemployment rate means employers have to work that much harder to attract – and keep – outstanding employees. That’s something this year’s nine Best Companies to Work For in Colorado finalists — including three winners — take to heart.
“Companies participate for one of two reasons: either to gather objective data and gain a baseline measure of their culture, or they have been intentional about creating a best company to work for and believe they can win,” says Shawna Simcik, president of business leadership at ICC: Innovate. Coach. Consult., the independent company that reviewed this year’s candidates.
Awards are based entirely on employee feedback about their experience at the company and the total response rate. In a fun twist to the program, finalists submitted short videos highlighting what makes their companies great. Applicants pay to have their employees take the Denison Culture Survey, which measures the key drivers of high performance: mission, adaptability, involvement and consistency. The companies that have participated year-over-year have shown considerable improvement in workplace culture, Simcik says. To that end, participation is a tool they can use to intentionally bolster culture while creating a sustainable measure of success.
