Our readers' selections for the best meeting spaces, hotel rooms and more
Best Meeting/Event Venue
The Colorado Convention Center, which hosts more than 230 events annually, is about to embark on its second expansion since it opened in 1990 after more than 100 professional meeting planners worked with architects to design the building. Expanded in 2005, the convention center is within walking distance of nearly 10,000 hotel rooms, 300 restaurants, nine theaters at the Denver Performing Arts Complex and a variety of shopping and retail outlets.
The expansion will include new flexible meeting and ballroom space of up to 85,000 square feet, and the addition of 100,000 square feet of new pre-function service space that also will include a 50,000-square-foot outdoor terrace on the roof of the existing building.
Best Hotel for Business
Hotel Teatro offers multiple meeting space options for groups of all sizes. The hotel has an event coordinator to help plan the meeting, and there are various A/V options from white boards to the 55-inch LCD HDTV package. On-site catering is available, from boxed lunches to all day meeting packages. There is also the 2,500-square-foot Terrace Room, with complimentary wireless internet access and other A/V amenities.
Best Hotel for Leisure
Hotel Teatro, located in the central business district across from the Denver Performing Arts Complex, calls itself Denver’s original boutique hotel. The hotel recently made some upgrades, including 50-inch televisions instead of the former 32-inch screens, custom oak wardrobes, and more comfortable furniture. The hotel offers 24-hour room service, which guests can order from these TVs, in-room spa services and Hotel Teatro Cruiser bicycles. The place is also dog-friendly, with no fees and no weight limit for Fido.
